The Rendez-vous de la Baie is very pleased to announce that the Société historique acadienne de la baie Sainte-Marie is the sponsor of the month for December 2013. Their generous contribution provides everyone with free access to the Acadian Interpretive Centre museum halls.

The Société historique acadienne de la baie Sainte-Marie was established in 1976 by a group interested in local history, and in preserving various historic sites in Clare, including the La Vieille Maison in Meteghan. More recently, the society has erected a monument in Grosses-Coques to commemorate the first church in the region, as well as being responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the first Acadian cemetery and chapel at Pointe-à-Major, a popular site with visitors during the summer.

The archives of the society are located in the Centre acadien at Université Sainte-Anne. The society is interested in all aspects of the history of la baie Sainte-Marie. Membership is $5 per year and the group meets quarterly.

Access to the Acadian Interpretive Centre (Museum) at Rendez-vous de la Baie is now free of charge. New since 2012, the admission fees have been replaced by a Donation box, as well as a new Corporate Sponsorship Program.
