SPRING HOURS
Effective Wednesday, May 7, our Spring operating hours are 7 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Operating hours will be extended again in late June. In the meantime, the Café may stay open beyond regular hours of operation to accommodate special events, please contact us at 902-769-3674 to check.

2014 ACTIVITIES MAP

The Clare Tourism Department has coordinated an Activities Map for Clare to promote the region. These map-brochures are available at the Rendez-vous de la Baie, and are being distributed throughout Clare and the region. 20,000 copies have been printed and several hundred were distributed at the Saltscapes Expo in Halifax at the end of April.

OUR VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE HAS RE-OPENED!

We are pleased to welcome back Danny Blinn for another season as our Visitor Information Centre & Programming manager. Danny is coordinating many guided tours for school groups and Fam Tours this Spring. He will also be leading lantern tours in the museum, as well as a guided walking tours through Le Petit Bois, starting in late June! Drop by and pick up some tourism information. At Le Trécarré Art Gallery
Visit our new exhibition at Le Trécarré featuring local artist Mark Graff, presenting his paintings and sculptures from May 1st to June 30th. Sculptures are also exhibited on the grounds outside of Le Rendez-vous.

ACTIVITIES IN CLARE

The Clare Community Calendar is a free tool to promote events and activities in Clare. You will see a wide variety of events, including community events, general entertainment, leisure, tourism, festivals and cultural activities, as well as activities taking place at Université Sainte-Anne and at the Rendez-vous de la Baie. This calendar is a free service to event organizers, and also serves as a planning tool to improve the coordination of events in Clare. Event organizers can add events by calling Tanya German at 902-769-3655.

SPONSOR OF THE MONTH : LA SOCIÉTÉ ACADIENNE DE CLARE

The Rendez-vous de la Baie is very pleased to announce that La Société acadienne de Clare is the sponsor of the month for May 2014. Their generous contribution provides everyone with free access to the Acadian Interpretive Centre museum halls.

La Société acadienne de Clare is made up of individuals and organisations that work together to preserve and promote the Acadien language and culture in the Clare region. We represent La Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse in the Municipality of Clare. We organize many community base projects. Naturally, most of are activities and projects are conducted in our maternal French language, but they do not exclude the participation of the other official language community nor other minority groups. Visit our office at 795 Comeauville, in the Radio-CIFA building.

Access to the Acadian Interpretive Centre (Museum) at Rendez-vous de la Baie is now free of charge. New since 2012, the admission fees have been replaced by a Donation box, as well as a new Corporate Sponsorship Program.

At Le Trécarré Art Gallery
Discover the new exhibition at Le Trécarré from January 8 to February 28: “HOMING – VOL DE RENTRÉE”, an expo by Jay LeBlanc. Vernissage: Sunday, February 9 from 1pm to 3pm.

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY: 2014 CLARE MAP-BROCHURE!
The Municipality of Clare Tourism Department is pleased to offer businesses and organizations an advertising opportunity on our new full-colour 2014 Clare Tourism Map-Brochure. This double-sided brochure will replace the Clare tear-off maps from previous years, and will include many new features:
* Brochure format to enable distribution in NS Visitor Information Centres
* Activity Guide and Map featuring Acadian, Music, Outdoors and Hands-on Experiences, with QR codes
* Attraction Map and Visitor Services listings
* Custom plastic holders for display at participating locations

20,000 copies will be printed in early April and distributed at local accommodations, attractions and restaurants, and at other locations throughout the region, and at NS Visitor Information Centres, including Halifax Airport & Waterfront, and at various conferences, events and selected consumer trade shows (Saltscapes, Halifax). SPONSOR OF THE MONTH : SOCIÉTÉ HISTORIQUE ACADIEN DE LA BAIE SAINTE-MARIE (DECEMBER)

The Rendez-vous de la Baie is very pleased to announce that the Société historique acadienne de la Baie Sainte-Marie is the sponsor of the month for December 2013. Their generous contribution provides everyone with free access to the Acadian Interpretive Centre museum halls.

The Société historique acadienne de la Baie Sainte-Marie was established in 1976 by a group interested in local history, and in preserving various historic sites in Clare, including the La Vieille Maison in Meteghan. More recently, the society has erected a monument in Grosses-Coques to commemorate the first church in the region, as well as being responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the first Acadian cemetery and chapel at Pointe-à-Major, a popular site with visitors during the summer.

The archives of the society are located in the Centre acadien at Université Sainte-Anne. The society is interested in all aspects of the history of la Baie Sainte-Marie. Membership is $5 per year and the group meets quarterly.

PARTNERSHIPS IN PROGRESS
Festival de la Clare-té
La Fédération Régionale des arts et du patrimoine de la Baie Sainte-Marie is pleased to announce the return of its event celebrating the arrival of spring. Last year, FRAP successfully hosted the event Nocturne à la Baie. This year, the event has transformed into a four day festival, appropriately named Festival de Clare-té. The dates of the festival are from March 20th to the 23rd to 23.
It will be a celebration of the arts and heritage with fun and interesting activities for everyone. An event similar to Nocturne à la Baie will be incorporated within the festival, only this time, there will be a call for submissions process, so that artists may be financially rewarded for their participation. Also different this year is the addition of conferences and workshops on various topics revolving around the agricultural and culinary heritage of Baie Sainte-Marie The Festival’s logo, as it appears below, represents the relationship between the earth, light, and creativity in the region. A detailed program will be available soon. The Rendez-vous de la Baie is pleased again to be an event organizer and one of the host venues.
