PARTNERSHIPS IN PROGRESS
Geotourism and National Geographic
The Clare Tourism Department is partnering with the Bon Temps Tourism Association-led initiative to develop a Geotourism MapGuide and website with the National Geographic Society. Geotourism is defined as tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents. This project involving many regional partners will showcase Acadie of SW Nova Scotia. Gaining Geotourism Destination status will offer the region a tremendous opportunity to leverage the marketing capacity and powerful brand of National Geographic, and particularly its cachet with the American travelling public. Stay tuned for updates in the upcoming months!
