The Rendez-vous de la Baie is very pleased to announce that the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 historique acadienne de la baie Sainte-Marie<\/strong> is the sponsor of the month for November 2012<\/strong>. Their generous contribution provides everyone with free access to the Acadian Interpretive Centre museum halls.<\/p>\n

The Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 historique acadienne de la baie Sainte-Marie<\/strong> was established in 1976 by a group interested in local history, and in preserving various historic sites in Clare, including the La Vieille Maison in Meteghan. More recently, the society has erected a monument in Grosses-Coques to commemorate the first church in the region, as well as being responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the first Acadian cemetery and chapel at Pointe-\u00e0-Major, a popular site with visitors during the summer. <\/p>\n

The archives of the society are located in the Centre acadien at Universit\u00e9 Sainte-Anne. The society is interested in all aspects of the history of la baie Sainte-Marie. Membership is $5 per year and the group meets quarterly. <\/p>\n

Access to the Acadian Interpretive Centre (Museum) at Rendez-vous de la Baie is now free of charge<\/em>. All new for 2012, the admission fees have been replaced by a Donation box, as well as a new Corporate Sponsorship Program.<\/p>\n
