The Rendez-vous de la Baie is very pleased to announce that the Le Centre acadien<\/strong> is the sponsor of the month for December 2016<\/strong>. Their generous contribution provides everyone with free access to the Acadian Interpretive Centre museum halls.<\/p>\n

The Centre acadien of Universit\u00e9 Sainte-Anne carries out the dual mission of promoting research in Acadian studies and of supporting researchers at the University, whatever their discipline may be. Founded in 1972, the Centre possesses a collection of primary and secondary sources related to the past and contemporary reality of the Acadians that is the most comprehensive one of its kind in Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n

The Centre acadien contains over 10,000 volumes and 100 linear meters of manuscripts and other original documents, in addition to several collections of recorded interviews about yesteryear\u2019s way of life and recordings of vocal and instrumental music from Nova Scotia. <\/p>\n

The Centre acadien is particularly proud of its many collections of photographs of Acadian life, taken by such renowned photographs as D.B. Field and John Collier, Jr., as well as its nearly complete collection of French-language newspapers published in the Maritime Provinces.<\/p>\n

Access to the Acadian Interpretive Centre (Museum) at Rendez-vous de la Baie is now free of charge<\/em>. New since 2012, the admission fees have been replaced by a Donation box, as well as a new Corporate Sponsorship Program.<\/p>\n
